WHAT IS TRUE WHEN IT COMES TO HYDROGEN BOILERS? IS YOUR RADIANT BOILER ALREADY SUITABLE FOR THIS CHANGE?

In this article, you may find many answers to your questions, but let us start from the very beginning. On 24 February 2022, the UNI/TS 11854 technical specification was released for heat generators fuelled with a blend of natural gas and hydrogen up to 20 per cent by volume. This specification has finally defined unambiguous parameters to be able to certify boilers as ‘Hydrogen Ready 20%.

ARE RADIANT CONDENSING BOILERS ALREADY APPROVED?

All Radiant condensing boilers are already approved to run with a mixture of natural gas enriched with up to 20% hydrogen.

The burner, designed in-house, is stable and does not require any modifications. As of 2023, all pre-mixed condensing boilers (OneTech, CombiTech, DualTech, PowerTech, SolarTech series), are officially approved to work with blends of up to 80% Natural gas and up to 20% Hydrogen.

In order to safely pass the requirements lead by the related approvals, no modifications of any kind were necessary compared to the same series already in production since 2014. This is due to the stability of the burners designed by our engineers and produced in our factory.

As soon as mains blends, containing up to 20% hydrogen are supplied, the boilers will be able to keep working without any safety or stability problems, and without the need for any adjustments: no calibration or parameter setting changes are required.

How much longer will you be able to use your boiler?

It is currently predicted that we will have 10 % hydrogen in the grid in 2030, so your Radiant product will run for a big amount of time.
